The Magic-Science Expert - Belligerent Crown
« on: August 14, 2011, 09:59:24 AM »

Name and Occupation
- Taken Name: Belligerent Crown
- Pronunciation of the Name: Buh-lij-er-uh- nt  Crown
- Given Name: Benjamin Delamere
- Pronunciation of the Name: Ben-juh-muh n  Del-ah-meer
- Character Job: Doctor / Magic-Science Researcher
- Titles: Doctor Crown/Delamere, Professor Crown/Delamere

Character Mentality
- Character Personality: As a general rule, Belligerent is a stoic and laidback individual, being completely unphased by most things, partially due to his personality, but mostly as a result of his extensive life experience. Though he usually doesn’t speak too much unless required, when he does, the outlook he reveals is usually rather cynical. As a result of his isolation, generally only interacting with the few people who pass into his laboratory, he can be a rather old-fashioned individual when it comes to his mannerisms and habits. This results in his basic social interactions appearing rather friendly and polite, though he still appears preoccupied with his work.
- Character Likes: Science, inventing, learning, knowledge, experimenting, intelligent people, loopholes.
- Character Dislikes: Interruptions, failed experiments that yield nothing useful, cunning negotiators, foolish people, individuals who renege on deals.
- Mental Traits: Belligerent is unnaturally calm in even the most stressful of situations, and has masterful control of his emotions, any expression seen on his face is one he has put there. He also has a fantastic memory, and if something is of interest to him, he will not forget it. Belligerent is particularly fond of making bargains, and is willing to accept payment in the form of favours if the individuals in question possess no tangible goods or knowledge to trade.

Nationality and Allegiance
- Race and Nationality: Human, British
- Allegiance: Neutral
- Reasons for Allegiance: Being neutral means that Belligerent is less constricted by rules enforced down by organisations, and can freely work with individuals of any allegiance in order to further his research.

Relationships
- Allies: Amaranth Trammel
- Enemies: The many hundreds of people who Belligerent has tricked and deceived in order to gain the information or materials he requires for his research.
- Family: --
- Friends: When the discussions are purely academic, Belligerent gets on well enough with other Magic-Scientists, but his methods tend to prevent friendships from forming.
- Significant Other: --

Character Age
- True Age: 919
- Appearance Age: Early fifties
- Character Birthday: 28/06

Character Appearance
- Character Skin Colour/Ethnicity: Belligerent’s skin is unusually pale, though not to the point of appearing unhealthy or Vampiric.
- Character Height: 193cm / 6’4”
- Character Weight: 82kg
- Character Hair Colour: Belligerent’s hair is grayish-white, changing naturally from its original light brown in his late teens.
- Character Hair Length/ Style: Belligerent’s hair is shoulder length, and swept out of his face, forced away so that it doesn’t block his vision. During any extended period of time, the hair is generally seen to fall back down, requiring that he brush it back to its previous position with a hand.
- Character Eye Colour: Belligerent’s eyes are a shining golden colour.
- Character Description: Belligerent has a thin body, with wiry, but defined muscles. Though built more for speed than power, his arms appear to be rather lanky, with most of his muscle bulk and definition being focused around his torso, abdomen and legs. The backs of his hands are also covered in a variety of scars, from a variety of sources, ranging from chemical burns to cuts and scratches. His face possesses some slight signs of age, mainly in faint lines on either side of his mouth, and some around the eyes.
- Character Attire: Belligerent is almost always seen wearing a labcoat, which has a range of basic medical equipment stashed within the inside pockets. As one of his Magebound Amplifiers, the labcoat Belligerent wears not only repels magic, but also diminishes the strength of it upon impact. While black and white shirts are the most common form him to wear, grays and browns are not unheard of. His pants tend to be dark gray or black, and he always wears study black boots. All of the clothing Belligerent wears is magically reinforced, to resist damage of all forms. When he is not wearing his labcoat, or is expecting some form of combat, Belligerent wears some bandages, wrapped around his torso beneath his shirt, which serve as his other Magebound Amplifiers.

Habits and Mannerisms
- Character Voice: Belligerent’s voice is smooth, and perfectly calm, always sounding as if he is in control of the situation.
- Speech Traits: --
- Habits: While Belligerent prefers to avoid lying, he will rarely tell the entire truth unless he is backed into a corner, using small phrases that while correct, could easily be interpreted incorrectly.
- Mannerisms: Belligerent is extremely inquisitive, and in any situation, even combat, he will often obsessively observe something he does not understand, in order to figure out how or why it happened.

Weapons, Equipment and Artifacts
- Large Equipment: The labcoat he wears is somewhat bulky due to all of the minor medical equipment within it.
- Small Equipment: A lighter, a pen, a notebook.
- Pocket Items: A wallet, his keys.
Belligerent’s labcoat is always filled with medical and surgical supplies, including needles and thread, two scalpels, two syringes, a vial of the Vampire Suppressant Serum, some normal bandages, some basic antidotes, and a host of pills and herbs. The pills and herbs he carries enable him to either cure, or induce, a large range of basic ailments.
- Ammunition: ^
- Weaponry: The two bandages are Magebound Amplifiers, meaning that they can be used for combat. The scalpels and syringes also have some application, but are not designed for fighting.
- Magical Equipment/Artifacts: Belligerent's clothing is all magically enhanced to be stronger and resist damage, but his Labcoat and the bandages he occasionally wears are Magebound Amplifiers.

Belligerent is also the possessor of the Magebound Aetherion, though this is generally used to maintain the Magebound Laboratory’s isolation from the normal dimension, and as such, is rarely used directly.
- Other: Belligerent is the current owner/prime resident of the Magebound Laboratory.

Magic and Abilities
- Magic: Adept
- Specialization: Magebound, Speciality: Magical Binding. Belligerent’s magic takes the form of golden lines, which move at right angles rather than curving.
- Immersion Metamorphosis: Belligerent has not entered Immersion Metamorphosis before, as he only has three Amplifiers. But, if he does, it will be the standard Magebound IM, with a shroud of antimagic covering his body.
- Ability Specific Info: Belligerent's primary Magebound Amplifier is his labcoat. Along with the normal Amplifier properties of being able to penetrate magic and amplify his own abilities, Belligerent's labcoat can absorb the magic that it blocks and negates, storing this power. Once enough magic has been stored by the labcoat, it can be released in a quick pulse that negates any magic it touches. However, magic absorbed by this Amplifier is only retained for a short time, before the inherent Magebound magic negates it. If damaged by a strong enough force, the tears appear golden, but the Amplifier will slowly repair itself over time.
Belligerent also has two bandages as additional Magebound Amplifiers, which possess the standard abilities, and if they are wrapped around another person, even if it is just a limb, their magic is suppressed. Unlike normal bindings, however, this is not detectable until they try to use their magic, at which time they will find themselves unable to harness it. Any individual whose magic is constantly active will feel the effects immediately.
- Signature Ability: Belligerent often uses his labcoat or bandages to amplify an aura centred around his body, which binds all magic within its range. He also specialises in curing magical injuries and uses his magic to force any foreign magic out of an individual’s body.
Another trick, though one only usable when he is not using his Amplifiers, is rendering someone unconscious after he places a hand on their head, using finely controlled Magebound magic to knock them out.
- Strengths: As his speciality is binding or negating the magic of others, combatants who focus solely on magical combat are severely restricted around him. In addition to the magical binding, Belligerent’s magic also has a myriad of utility applications.
- Weaknesses: Belligerent is unable to leave the Laboratory for extended periods of time, without another Magebound within, as a constant source of magic is required to maintain its isolation from reality. His ability to render someone unconscious requires significant control and focus, so he must place a hand on the target’s head, and also not use his Amplifiers, in order to succed.
- Training: Belligerent is a Natural Magebound, and has mastered his Discipline through trial and error, research, and the occasional lesson from an Echo Stone of Vehemence Iniquitous.

Goals, Motivation and History
- Major Goal: To complete a scientific evaluation for magic and determine its most fundamental rules and limitations.
- Minor Goals:
  • Dissect a Faceless One.
  • Create a device capable of using the Magebound Aetherion to sustain the Laboratory’s separation from the normal dimension.
  • Dissect one of the creatures that feeds on magic, to discover how they do it.
  • Devise a method to bind and prevent the transformation of afflicted mages, such as vampires and werewolves.
  • Set up more doorways from the Laboratory to key global locations.
- Reasoning behind goal: Only by discovering the most fundamental aspects of magic, can it truly be understood, and as a sorcerer, Belligerent feels the need to understand the force he wields daily.
By creating a device that can utilize the Magebound Aetherion, Belligerent would be able to leave the Laboratory for extended periods of time, making it significantly easier for him to conduct experiments and investigations outside.
By creating more doorways, Belligerent increases the number of locations that he can quickly travel to, making his short expeditions more efficient.
The dissections would give him a greater knowledge about the entities, and with enough research he could potentially replicate some of their abilities.
Suppressing the transformations is merely a curious desire, to test both his magic, and the power of the afflictions.
- Motivation: Belligerent is driven by the ubiquitous allure of knowledge, and his desire to understand how things work.

- Bio: Born into a family of Mages, Belligerent was originally considered a weak magic user, almost a lost cause, as he struggled to use even the most basic magical techniques. As all of the most basic Disciplines were attempted, without any signs of success, efforts to teach him dwindled, despite his remarkable understanding of Magical Theory. Sneaking into his family’s repository when a routine check was being undertaking, he stumbled upon an unusual gem in a glass case. Resembling an Echo Stone, but with a note saying that it was defective in some way, as no one had been able to activate it, Belligerent was shocked when the gem flared with light and conjured a figure. After a brief and terrifying conversation with the figure, during which he was instructed to unlock the seal on the glass, and walked through the process, the young Magebound finally discovered a Discipline that worked for him, claiming the Echo Stone and several books before retreating from the repository.

With the rest of his family believing that his magical potential was practically non-existent, he managed to spend weeks on end studying the books, and following every strange whim and request made by the Echo Figure. After a month and a half, upon hearing some backhanded praise from his instructor, Belligerent revealed his magic to his family, and was then dragged back into the fold, with regular training sessions and theoretical instruction, though his lessons with Vehemence continued in secret.

He becomes a doctor, yeah.

What a nice laboratory, he’ll take it.

What a petty little war, so many people to patch up.

Magic-Science conferences are glorious.

Little pear-shaped redhead, apprentice acquired.

- Additional Notes: Bio shall be completed soon.

Click to view Full Size - Drawn by Liliana Pitchblack

If my drawing abilities were that good, I'd have artwork done for all of my characters.
Liliana drew Belligerent a while back.

His old bio was terrible.
Will take a bit of time to work everything in, to create a bio that is actually decent. So I shall start later, but for now... the first update in a year and a half.

It doesn't matter where we go, there's always someone that doesn't agree with us.

Alright, updated further. Should be a lot better now.
Have also made a start on a new bio, which should actually end up being decent.
